This morning is Easter morning and I am not sitting in church. I instead have read the news of more killings in Baghdad, armed robberies a block from my house, more problems in South Africa, and violence in many parts of the world. This is supposed to be a day when we celebrate victory over death and peace among men.
Why am I so sad? We have always had wars and violence so what makes today any different? It just seems like we have more of it than we ever did except when we were at war. Or perhaps we hear more about the violence in Africa and in Iraq and Afghanistan than we ever did before and more instantaneously. Celebration seems like a mockery.
However, as someone once said to me, there have always have been enough good people to keep the world going and doing the right thing. I hope I am among the good people who are trying to lead the world in the right direction. And I know that there are a lot of you out there who are trying to do the same thing.
I didn’t go to church today. But I still share the hope of Easter in my heart and a wish for all of you for peace and love. HAPPY EASTER!! !HAPPY PASSOVER!!!

I feel sad about various world situations too, but we must have balance. We have to have peaceful, optimistic people...just as that person said to you.
Continue to enjoy your life and think or yourself as an example to others who will strive to be like you. Get'em over to the "good" side!
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter my dear friend, today is a day to rejoice not be sad. Upon reflection I understand how hard it is right now in a world filled with so much anger and bitterness.....it is time for all of us to speak in soft gentle voices, to be kind and caring toward each other and to forgive. It is time for hate speech to stop and it is time for all of us to do the right thing.....Happy Easter dear sweet friend, I hope you get to spend time with Bill and the others in your family....:-) Hugs
There is a lot going on in the world for us not to care.
Happy Easter Bernie... I'm in the same position as you. (Actually I had to head to Wichita to p/u hubby at the airport today.) I do believe there are still many of us doing the right thing, and trying to live a good life by example, whether we go to church or not. I was raised with certain morals and values that have carried over into my adulthood. It is so hard for me to understand how one human can take the life of another so easily, so carelessly, so thoughtlessly. We have had quite a few baby deaths (murders) the last few weeks in these parts, one of them particularly heinous, and it defies even the smallest bit of understanding or graciousness from us who are law-abiding and gentle creatures.
Bernie, I hope you have an especially joyful day with your family and/or friends. You have inspired so many simply by virtue of your blog! :-)
Amen Bernie,Amen.
It's the good people like you who hold this crazy world together. You've seen much sadness and trouble in your lifetime, but I imagine you've also experienced the fun, wonder and joy. Hope your day ended in peace and happiness. Happy Easter!
I read once that "news" is, by definition, something out of the ordinary. If that's true, then Good is still the rule rather than the exception.
None of us can change the whole world. All we can do is appreciate everything we can, and let other people see how that's done. Pass along a smile, a thank you. We can't help all of mankind, but we can help one fellow man.
Keep Peace in your heart, Bernie. Don't give up on it!
Happy Easter to you too!
It's really sad to hear all the violence going on in this world. But I still believe that there are still good people out there (just like what you've said) who will someday make a difference in this world.
God bless everyone!
Happy Easter Bernie. May God's Blessings shine upon you and yours.
Nice post, very thoughtful. Peace and happiness to you and yours.
Happy Easter, Bernie!
When I went to broadcasting school in 1990/91, I thought I wanted to do TV news. After interning at a news radio station, I realized that it wasn't for me. "Sexy" news is the sad stuff, the violent stuff. It's not at all the majority of the world, but it's the shocking stuff that makes us feel like we don't have it so bad. But I realized that the news people were jaded and they could actually laugh about violence. That wasn't for me, I wanted to always be able to be disgusted by it, to still feel compassion. I think that's the mark of a truly good person. You definitely have that mark!
Sending a hug. Thank you for being you!
My husband and I used to work for newspapers. Unfortunately, editors have always lived by the rule: If it bleeds, it leads.
Real life and love aren't in the headlines.
They are too good for that.
Happy Easter... The Easter message is still true.

Oh I so know how you feel... but rest assured that there are SO MANY GOOD GOOD people living and breathing and loving. But the media loves to write about bad people. And there are quite a few of them too. I am going to do something good today. I know you are too... its the little acts of goodness that never get shouted about. But there are so many. Lovely to know you... in a small and significant way you make a difference in my life. How cool is that! Lots of love xx
Nice Blog...Hello from Poland :)
Joining you in prayers for peace and the hope that love will win ultimately.
Happy belated Easter. I spent mine with my mom and dad in Florida, and had a nice time. I miss them a lot so it was a great visit. Mom turned 75 while I was there.
The world is changing so fast. But I do think it iss an angrier America and world than it has ever been. Trying to stay positive is sometimes a challenge.
happy Easter and Passover to you too... I hope I'm among the good people too. Heaven only knows we NEED good people in our various countries.
Thanks for stopping by blog. I appreciate it. And I understood what you were saying. IT is truth.
I just popped in to check on you and wish you a wonderful weekend, sweetie.
God bless ya'll!!!
I know many people worry about the terrible situations in the world today. For some reason, I tend to focus on situations I can have an effect on. If I tune out the rest of the world, I can feel happy about doing good in my own minimal way. I know it is naive, but it is too overwhelming to think about the rest of the world. I would feel I need to fix it and of course that would NEVER get done!!!

Yes, I know what you mean. We must trust in our humanity...and in God...((Hugs))
